SF City Hall Wedding

When Zab and Alex asked me to photograph their wedding at San Francisco City Hall, I was thrilled. The stunning architecture and grandeur of the venue provided the perfect backdrop for their wedding.  It had been a few years since I had been up to City Hall for a wedding, so it felt fresh and new to me.

On the day of the wedding, I arrived early to capture the beautiful details of the venue. As I walked through the halls and up the grand staircase, I couldn't help but feel excited for what was to come. The venue was breathtaking, and I knew that Zab and Alex's wedding was going to be one for the books.

As Alex walked down the aisle in her stunning white dress, I could feel the emotion in the air. The Rotunda was filled with light and the echoes of their vows, creating a beautiful ambiance that was a joy to photograph. As the couple exchanged rings and shared their first kiss, a harpist played in the background.

After the ceremony, the couple took a few minutes to exchange some personal vows on the 4th floor balcony.  We then spent the next hour or so wandering the halls capturing candid images as they soaked up the feelings of newlyweds, stopping periodically for some posed portraits.

For me, finding the balance between stepping back and documenting the moments, and stepping in and providing a bit of guidance for more posed portraits is the best way to document a wedding day.  Allowing the couple to enjoy their day is priority number one, and reminding myself of that fact allows me the opportunity to document moments that are truly representative of the clients and the guests without altering them in any way.
